In February 2023 SHAPE visited Busamaga to see first hand how the Health Centre is progressing and gain a greater understand of its role, and positive impact, in the wider community. On the trip were Dr Neil Fletcher (Chairman), Shan South (Trustee) and Rob (Committee Member) and Julie Garnham (Treasurer/Secretary and Committee Members). Expenses for the trip were entirely funded out of personal funds and no monies were taken from SHAPE itself for any costs.
Neil, Shan, Julie and Rob were most impressed with the great work being carried out at the Health Centre and particularly when, at a meeting of local dignitaries and SHAPE, the Health Centre was cited as an exemplar in the work it does. Minutes of the Health Centre Management Committee have reported, ““Busamaga HC has been selected by Sironko District Local Government as a model Health Centre in Sironko District because of its outstanding and good performance exhibited by the Health Centre.”
A full report on the February trip will be published here shortly but in the meantime our work continues, and is being extended to helping the local primary and secondary school with resources for the next 12 months.
