Walking in the countryside near Lalibela
Coffee the Ethiopian way
The main meal was served after dark in the central tukul, and afterwards coffee.
The green beans are roasted on an earthenware plate.
And then the smoke from the beans is blown towards the guests for them to savour.
Beans are ground in a wooden pestle and mortar (the camera missed that, too dark to see what was going on)
and the grounds go into the pot (like the one we bought in the market).
The coffee is poured.
We asked our guide what people do in the long evenings "Oh, we sit and chat"
