Photos from our trip to Ethiopia, November 2007
Most of the photographs we had seen before going to Ethiopia
were news coverage of the famines in the 1980's, illustrations by
aid organisations of the work that they are doing, or in tourist
guides.
Ours are more like 'snapshots' of rural Ethiopia going about its
day-to-day business, to give an impression of what it looked like
to us.

We spent 10 days with SUNARMA as they reviewed their
projects and met with local government officials, covering many
miles by road.
The journey included parts of three federal regions (Amhara, Afar and
Oromia) north and east of Addis Ababa
We then went to Lalibela and did a four-day trek
along the escarpments and through the fields with TESFA, a community based
tourism organisation.
The slower pace along the paths and tracks that form the rural communications network
gave the opportunity to see more of the activities in the countryside of the highlands.
SUNARMA and TESFA are working together
to introduce community based tourism in the Wof-Washa Forest
where we had been with SUNARMA
About these photographs. We have put these images here to inform people of our work and the people of Ethiopia. They will not print much bigger than they appear on your screen. We do have high resolution versions which we can send to those who are helping us. Please email a request to the address on the contacts page. We will also make them available to charitable organisations with compatible aims, normally for nothing more than an acknowledgement. If you are from a commercial organisation and would like to use any of these images we would be delighted to make them available in return for an appropriate fee which would be used to support our work.
