Neil Fletcher

Neil Fletcher

Neil is Chairman and a Trustee of SHAPE. Neil qualified in medicine from Cambridge in 1998. He has been a GP since 2006 and now works as a GP Partner in Gloucestershire. He has done higher training in Tropical Medicine in Liverpool and has been on Medical Missions with SHAPE and MSF to East and Central Africa. Neil is particularly passionate about the prevention and treatment of malaria in children. He is married to Tara and they have three young sons.

His vision for SHAPE is to deliver sustainable medical care to vulnerable communities in rural Uganda. He is motivated by his Christian faith.

Julie Garnham

Julie is treasurer of SHAPE. Registered General Nurse and qualified Teacher, worked in the Health Service for 37 years, retired in 2015.

Visited Busamaga for the first time with Dr Neil Fletcher in November 2011. Undertook bed net survey, distribution of 300 bed nets and helped with mobile outreach clinics delivering health care in rural areas.

Returned to Busamaga in Sept 2012 leading a small team from SHAPE to distribute a further 1000 bed nets and undertake outreach clinics.

Returned in Dec 2015 with Shan South to open the level 2 Health Centre that will serve 10 villages in the parish of Busamaga.
Also undertook a further small scale bed net survey.

Rob Garnham

Rob Garnham has had a varied career, Merchant Navy and as a Civil Servant, and currently runs his own business involved with bringing land owners and developers together with the local community and decision makers.

Rob has had a wide range of fundraising experience for local charities and the skills learnt there help in fundraising for SHAPE today. Rob helps Julie navigate the complexities of on-line charity governance!

Paul Hutt

Paul is a trustee of SHAPE. He has a degree in mathematics and a PhD in theoretical physics.

After 10 years at university he spent the rest of his working life as a reactor physicist in the nuclear industry for what was the national electricity supplier for England and Wales, the CEGB and then its various privatised successors.

He is now retired but still wants to do something useful. He went with Julie to Busamaga in Sept 2012.

Shan South

Shan is a registered General Nurse, Midwife and Teacher. Retired in 2010 having worked in the Health Service for 38 years. She joined the SHAPE Committee in 2012.

In December 2015 she visited Uganda with Julie Garnham to help complete and open a level 2 Health Centre which serves 10 villages in the Parish of Busamaga. During that time, they also undertook a further small scale bed net survey to determine the current state and efficacy of the bed nets. She is now a Trustee of SHAPE and proactive fund raiser.

Tara Fletcher

Tara Fletcher is married to Neil and is currently a full time mum to their young sons.

Tara has previously worked in management and obtained a BSc (Hons) after studying Molecular Science. Tara has also completed Higher Level Professional Management qualifications and studied French at University.

Tara has a strong interest in Paediatric Infectious Diseases in developing countries and in Children’s Education and Mental Health in the UK.
